On tour - Day 3/4/5 and 6
I was almost lulled into a false sense of tranquility with a few days in Sao Paulo. NOW the tour has started! The past few days have been, as was expected, somewhat chaotic. My promise of writing a post everyday after the gig was foolishly hopeful. Of course, when we’re really on the road, then [...]

Overall, great day. Played some tennis with Judy and Dave this morning. We had a rehearsal booked for late morning but couldn’t confirm because the guy that books the studio wasn’t there. Then it was moved to after lunch. Then it was canceled because it was too expensive. Then a deal was set up where [...]

The idea is simply to try and give you a brief insight into what it’s like being on the road - and the various obstacles that frequently pop up to make our life just that little bit easier. … In fact, the ONLY reason that we’re all here 2 days earlier than need be (the first show of the tour is Tuesday night) is for the TV show.

After an extremely frustrating few days, I’ve finally finished the ‘Recordings’ page and put up some audio. To cut a very long and tedious story short, I could not work out how to link up the audio files using a plugin that I have. Anyway, with more help from Dino@ewebscapes I (he) sorted it out. [...]
Continue reading...New CD out!!
My new CD ‘Swinging the Changes’ (Arbors Jazz ARCD 19358) is finally out! It features myself with Bob Wilber and my London quartet. At the moment it is available from Arbors Jazz but will probably be on iTunes and other online stores soon. I’m going to be putting up some tracks on the ‘Recordings’ page [...]
Continue reading...The literary reputation of saxophonists.
It seems the reputation of jazz saxophonists has reached the literary world at last. One of the books I am currently reading is ‘Brother Odd’ by Dean Koontz and I quote;
“Saxophone players tend to have an attitude”, I said. “I know a saxophonist who tore a guitar out of another musician’s hands and shot the [...]
